Latest News
Thank you to all who attended our presentation at the JALT conference. About 30 people attended. For those attendees interested in a potential TESOL 2.0 Scholar in Residence training program in New York this summer, please contact the EdLab's Collaborative Solutions Group.
After our presentation we plan on submitting an article to The Internet TESL Journal maintained by Larry Kelly, who attended our presentation.
Mission Statement
TESOL 2.0 implements a cutting-edge approach to ESL instruction: the integration of media and technology to teach English. The course weaves various media such as podcasts, film and video, still images, and written text into the class curriculum. Web 2.0 based technologies such as blogs and instant messaging are employed to explore new modes of communication. Combining principled use of media and technology with sound ESL pedagogy, these digital tools anchor a curriculum which affords opportunities for receptive and productive linguistic activities.
TESOL 2.0 is as an ideal curriculum for language teachers who wish to more effectively incorporate new media and technology into their classrooms. It serves as a much-needed modernization on using video, computers, and the Internet. Moreover, TESOL 2.0 reflects the current reality our students experience in an increasingly digitized world, which has given birth to many new avenues of utilizing language for communicative purposes.
